    Description

    Collection of 20 Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Souvenir Cards from the 1970.  The cards include:
    B9, issued for Interpex '71 in New York City,
    showing the design of the 4c Project Mercury stamp from 1962, Scott 1193, in a block of four format;
    B10, issued for Westpex '71, with
    designs of four California-themed stamps - Scott 997, the 3c California Statehood stamp of 1950; Scott 740, the 1c denomination from the National Parks series showing El Capitan at Yosemite; Scott 852, the 3c stamp commemorating the Golden Gate Exposition of 1939; and Scott 966, the Palomar Observatory issue of 1948;
    B11, issued for NAPEX '71 and showing
    the designs of three stamps honoring the seats of the three branches the Federal Government in Washington, DC - Scott 990, depicting the White House; 991, depicting the Supreme Court; and 992, depicting the U.S. Capitol. All of the three cent stamps were issued in 1950; and,
    B13, issued for Texanex '71 and featuring the
    designs of three stamps related to the history of Texas - Scott 948, the 3c stamp from 1945 commemorating the centenary of Texas Statehood; 1043, the 9c Alamo stamp from the Liberty Series; and 1242, the 5c commemorative for Sam Houston.
    B15, issued for Anphilex '71.
    The card shows the designs used for the first United States stamps, Scott 1 and 2, in 1847. The reproductions were made with dies specially produced by the Bureau for this purpose

The intaglio design on the left was taken from the 4c stamp issued in 1959 marking 50 years of Arctic Explorations (from Peary to the atomic submarine), Scott 1128. The design on the right is from the 3c stamp issued to note the second Antarctic expedition of Admiral Byrd, Scott 733
