Condition: Beautiful and fresh essay block, OG/H, the top 2 stamps are creased and the 2 bottom stamps are sound...some perf separations, but this is best sold as the block instead of breaking down into 2-4 lots...non Scott listed but still highly collectible and desired by students in this field for exhibit and study...please see pics for presentation and details...a rare find...
History: The Francis Patent essays, produced in Providence R.I., were few in number compared to other paper and ink essays of the period, they used chemically treated paper which would react with special inks to deface the stamp and prevent reuse...
I have added a nice selection of many stamps to my store.  I fondly remember going to stamp shows as a child, enjoying going through counter books where I could pick out the 'ideal' stamp for me.  The days where local stamp shows would allow this experience are few and far between.  I have attempted to re-create this by listing selected stock which you can pick from.
