    Description

    NOTE: THIS ITEM IS LISTED IN THE CATEGORY ANTIQUE COFFEE GRINDERS, WHICH IT IS, AND SINCE THAT’S WHERE I FOUND SIMILAR ITEMS,. BUT IT HAS BEEN CONVERTED TO A WORKING LAMP.
    This lamp was bought in New York in the early 1960’s and that’s about all I know about its history and provenance.
    According to research on the internet, it was made (as a coffee grinder) in late the 1800’s-early 1900’s.
    The letters around the circular part of the wheel say:
    H. S. Swift Mill Lane Brothers
    I took 2 photos of that, but it’s hard to read because the letters are painted black on a black background.
    I believe this is the original paint, it hasn’t been re-painted or restored as far as I know, other than having been converted into a lamp.
